We offer programs for children 18 months to 6 years of age during our academic year (August through May) and during our summer session (June and July). Each program places emphasis on establishing a partnership with the family. We consider the family to be an integral part of the individual child’s development .

Toddler Program - 18 months to 3 years

Our toddler program instructors are educated in the Montessori philosophy and methodology appropriate for infants and toddlers. Our programs foster the development of basic trust and facilitate the learning and development of the child’s personality.

A key focus is on activities that promote motor exploration, motor activities, language, aural and oral expression, and musicality. As with all our classrooms, we provide an environment that encourages the child’s spontaneous activity and which fosters development of the creative process, integrated personality, and a strong sense of self.

The classroom environments emphasize a variety of interesting things to explore, experience, and look at; each designed to meet the developmental stages of the child. The curriculum has resources, materials, and activities that encourage exploration. We provide a flexible sequence of routines and activities that reinforce the rhythmic patterns of activities of toddlers. Most of all, we provide an atmosphere that communicates love, acceptance, and trust.

At no time does the child-teacher classroom ratio exceed 8:1 (in fact, it's typically 6:1).

Pre-Primary Curriculum - 3 to 6 years of age

Our classrooms have a three year grouping of students and a schedule which provides for a consistent, dependable class routine having large blocks of uninterrupted work time. Our goal is to encourage the child’s spontaneous activity and foster the development of the creative process, integrated personality, and a strong sense of self. We place a strong emphasis on practical life activities, literacy and language, math using concrete objects, creative arts, science, and geography. Our curriculum includes material and encourages activities that promote sensory-motor experiences. Each activity is structured to provide purpose, closure, and opportunity for success.

Our staff ratios and teacher experience significantly exceed the standards set by the American Montessori Society.

Each of our classrooms have two teachers. The American Montessori Society requires that each classroom must have a directing teacher that is Montessori-certified for the 3 to 6 year age level by an accredited teaching education program requiring a minimum of 300 hours of on-site instructions and at least 36 weeks of supervised student teaching. All of our pre-primary classrooms have two certified Montessori teachers, each having more than a decade of experience in Montessori instruction. We maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio. In fact, our typical 12:1 or lower student teacher ratio improves upon the standard 15:1 student-teacher ratio set forth by the American Montessori Society.
